Frequently asked questions
The questions people ask most before their first osteopathy appointment. Still unsure? Call or message Marco directly.
What does an osteopath do?
An osteopath uses hands‑on techniques to assess and treat pain and restricted movement in the muscles, joints and connective tissue. The aim is to find why the pain is there and treat the cause, not only the symptom.
What happens at the first appointment?
Marco takes a short history, asks what’s bothering you and looks at how you move. He explains what he finds, then gives a first hands‑on treatment. Most first visits last about 60 minutes. You leave with a clear idea of what’s going on and what comes next.
Does treatment hurt? Is it safe?
Treatment should not be painful. Some techniques can feel firm and you may feel a little worked the next day, like after exercise. Marco adapts to what your body tolerates and explains each step. Tell him your health history so care can be tailored to you.
What problems can you treat?
Common reasons people come in: low‑back pain and sciatica, neck and cervical pain, tension headaches and dizziness, shoulder pain, sports strains and overuse, and posture‑related tension. If you’re unsure whether osteopathy is right for you, call and ask.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on the problem and how long you’ve had it. Some people feel a clear change after one or two sessions; longer‑standing issues take a little more patience. Marco gives you an honest estimate after the first visit.
Do you speak English?
Yes. Marco treats both Italian and English‑speaking patients, so visitors and residents around Olbia and the Costa Smeralda are welcome. Just mention your preferred language when you book.
Do I need a doctor’s referral?
No referral is needed to book. If you’re under medical care or have a specific diagnosis, bring any relevant reports so Marco can take them into account.
Where are you and is there parking?
The studio is at Via Pietro Maroncelli 8, in central Olbia, with street parking nearby. It’s a short drive from the port and Olbia–Costa Smeralda airport. See the map on the contact page for directions.
Does Marco do home, villa, yacht or hospital visits?
Yes. Marco comes to you with a professional portable table — at home, in your villa, on board your yacht or in hospital — across the greater Olbia area: Golfo Aranci, Porto Rotondo, Porto Cervo, San Pantaleo and San Teodoro. Prices start at €125 depending on travel time, distance and treatment. Booking ahead is essential; for acute emergencies such as sudden low-back pain Marco is available where possible, with the price agreed case by case.
